Cough, Cough! Sneeze, Sneeze! Take Care of a Cold, Naturaleeze!

You can feel it coming on. First, a sneeze. Then two more. Then a slight sniffle makes you reach for the tissues. The pain in your throat starts to burn hotter than last night’s dinner. Like a freight train barreling down the tracks, the sickness has now got its grip on you and you still have to go work. I’m here to tell ya, I may have some natural remedies that’ll help ya.

Has the cold and flu season got you feeling less than your beautiful self? It’s that time of year, as they say, and this season its coming in hot! Or cold I should say! Here are some remedies my family and I use to help us feel better, quicker.

When our immune system is under attack, I love oil of oregano for colds, flus and infections too. I take two pills daily for ten to fourteen days. This oil is an expectorant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiseptic, and also has antioxidant properties. This amazing oil helps to treat both the symptoms of the virus, as well as the underlying infection! This oil will for sure strengthen your immune system!

Next, we have essential oils. I know; most people either love these little guys or really can’t stand them. However, I think essential oils are fantastic and our bodies love them! The best method of using essential oils is in a diffuser, but you can also use them in massage blends, bath blends, compresses, and some in steam inhalation. A massage blend I use is our All-Purpose Healing Creamy Salve or the Frankincense Creamy Salve. It has so many great oils. I literally call them nutrition for your skin because they nourish the skin deep within the layers. They don’t just mask symptoms like conventional products do. I apply them to my face, especially getting my sinus area, my neck and shoulders. I also apply these blends to the bottoms of my feet. I’ll even add a drop or two of a thieves or Fighting Five blend with that. These salves also save noses from turning red, rough and blistered from all the abrasive tissues. My favorites, which are my go-to diffuser oils is a mix of lavender, tea tree, and/or frankincense oils. Essential oils have powerful rejuvenating and healing properties. Other great ones to use is lemongrass or lemon, oregano, eucalyptus, and peppermint to name a few. I think we absolutely need essential oils in our lives!

Speaking of massage blends, we make here a Cooling Vapors Creamy Salve that is out of this world! When my children were small, I used Vicks Vapor Rub, not knowing how bad petroleum products are for our kids (and everyone in general) as it contains the deadly toxin camphor. So, I made this Cooling Vapors Creamy Salve specifically with your little tykes in mind. I love all the oils I chose for this amazing product! Message me if you’d like to place an order today. I’m here to help.

Now for nutrition. Taking care of our insides is so important. Everyone who knows me, knows I love supplements. The food we eat is first and foremost! Eat a variety of vegetables and quality grass-fed meats and pasture-raised chickens. Seafood, too, if you’re not allergic. Limit sugary treats and too many carbs as these sugars actually weaken our immune system. We must be chewing our food. This is the way our digestion works; however, our food just doesn’t carry the nutrients it used to. So, we need help with supplements. During the cold and flu season, I like to keep up on vitamin D3, magnesium, and Vitamin C. Grab my Magnesium Oil Spray here! I also use a silver spray supplement called Silvercillin by designs for health. (I’m not so much of a name brand person as I am a clean product person. Quality is key here.) This is an “antimicrobial preparation composed of pure silver complexed with purified water.” Silvercillin is a form of colloidal silver that is able to enter a red blood cell, which allows it to travel to the smallest blood vessels in the body to inactivate viruses at the cellular level. Zinc is also helpful.

Lastly, my all-time favorite supplement of all. GREENS!! Green juices, salads, smoothies, vegetables! Sautéed, raw, blanched or blended….however you make them, just get them in your body! I recommend 6-9 cups of organic vegetables a day. One way that helps me do this if I cannot eat enough is that I use green juices and smoothies as a supplement.

Green teas, jasmine tea, ginger tea and others are all healing too. Add a little dab of honey and lemon to any tea and you’ve got a great homemade sore throat serum!

In our house, we only get one day of sympathy. After that, you’re on your own! These natural remedies will have you up and feeling good before you know it! Give them a try!
