Tara's Blog - Big Day!

So, a few weeks back I had this super amazing test done that required my blood to be sent to Greece (We call it the Greece test). This test gives the best information about your cancer and your body. It can even detect if your body is producing cancer when you don't even know it - aka once someone is "cancer free" they can check to see if they really are completely free of cancer. Anyway, through this test, I learned different things like my cancer is not resistant to any of the treatments I'm doing, it responds very well to heat therapy (so the hyperthermia treatments they do in other countries would be extremely beneficial for me), and many many other interesting things. But, the most interesting part about the test is that it tests a numerous amount of chemotherapy drugs as well as natural supplements to see how well they worked in killing the cancer. Luckily for me, there was a good amount of both natural and chemotherapy drugs that worked well. So, I began taking a few of the natural supplements, and today I started a new treatment that used the chemotherapy drugs!

It's called Insulin Potentiation Therapy or IPT. Basically, the doctors inject me with insulin and bring my blood sugar down between 40 and 50. By doing this, the cancer cells starve and will take in anything that I put into my body. Therefore, it's the perfect time to inject me with the drugs from the test and by doing so, the cancer cells eat up those drugs that are harmful to them, and hopefully die off quickly! IPT is also great because it is such a low dose of drugs that you do not get any negative side effects such as losing your hair. Today was my first treatment and I feel great! Plus I was finally able to eat some fruit (which I haven't had in 3 months) so I loved when I could eat my grapes and yogurt to get my blood sugar up.

Overall, today was a great day and I'm excited to continue these treatments!
