Smoke free/Alcohol Free Anniversary!

It’s been 7 years since I quit smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol. I know. I know. I hear it all the time…why? Well, quite frankly, my health. I did it for me. I did it for my kids. I chose to live for my kids, and for me. This meant giving up these two vices.

As you can see from the picture, keeping up with these two vices was an unhealthy choice! These two vices led to other unhealthy choices, like the food I was eating. I was eating out way too often. I found myself less interested in actually finding the time to eat properly and exercise. I was preoccupied in preparing for weekly parties and visits with friends. Though they were some fun times, all good things must come to an end. And I am so glad that it did!

The before and after pics speak volumes! It was easy to drop weight once I rid myself of all those toxins. I quit cold turkey. It was really only about two weeks of being uncomfortable. I played the mind over matter trick. I kept saying “This is easy.” “This is easy.” And I kept repeating it. Every time I wanted a smoke, I would say “This is easy.”, and moved onto doing something else to distract me from my craving. It worked! Before I knew it, months had passed by and I was smoke free! I looked back and thought, “That was easy!”

You can do anything you set out to do. If I can do it, so can you! If you want to quit and get healthier, start now. No time like the present! I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. You’re stronger than you think you are. Best wishes and here’s to living healthier!
