How to Create a Healthful Environment in Your Home and Office Using Bamboo Charcoal

We love being home-bodies. Am I right? Even if we love being outside often, we always love the feeling of coming home. As you may already know, indoor air is usually more polluted and much worse for us than outdoor air. This is because indoor air contains and holds in more toxins and chemicals that are harmful to our health. Three of my favorite ways to clean the indoor air is with house plants, Himalayan salt lamps, and activated bamboo charcoal.

I use activated charcoal for many things like cleaning my teeth, water filtration and detoxifying my body. I also love to use it around my home and office in the form of decorative bamboo sticks. These sticks are made on the southern coast of Korea. The (highly sustainable) bamboo is grown, then dried, then treated in a kiln for about two weeks. The process while in the kiln, is that the bamboo charcoal develops millions of tiny little porous holes. It is these holes that gives the charcoal its power to absorb. The beautiful result is the bamboo charcoal.

Bamboo charcoal acts as air filtration and can absorb impurities in the air like allergens, chemicals and other harmful toxins. It can act as a deodorizer by absorbing odors from any room in your home or office, and can even be slipped into closets and dresser drawers. It can also help to regulate the air by absorbing some of the moisture when the humidity is high, as well as releasing some of that moisture when air becomes too dry.

Other aspects of the air that we don’t see is the electromagnetic radiation that is emitted from our appliances, TV’s and computers, causing our body temperature to raise along with body and back aches. Bamboo charcoal can shield us by absorbing some of this radiation. Bamboo charcoal also releases negative ions and FAR infrared energy into the air that further freshens the air quality. This helps us to relax, improves circulation in our bodies and eases joint pain.

You just may want to try some of these pretty little stalks around your home!
