Open Pathways for Detoxing

The liver is probably the most important organ for detoxification. Everything usually hits the liver before passing it on to the perspective destinations throughout the body. The liver’s main job, as we know, is to filter the blood. This filter helps our body to eliminate harmful toxins and chemicals like heavy metals, drugs, and even supplements, as well as to help our body to metabolize nutrients. The liver also helps to break down fats and carbohydrate metabolism. If you don’t have a gallbladder or have insulin resistance, for example, you may need to take extra care of your liver. This is why keeping your liver running optimally is essential for good health. There are many supplements I love for my liver, of which include milk thistle (1,000 mg), green tea, dandelion tea, and castor oil packs. I also love glutathione; however, I do like to promote the liver to trigger this nutrient on it’s own as much as possible.

Process/Protocols

Here are the ways I begin my detoxing process. Let it be known that I am an experienced detoxer. *I am not diagnosing or treating any condition or disease. Some of these protocols I do often, even daily, however, I ramp them up especially when I am doing an intentional detox to clear toxins from my body. I do this intentional, more intense detoxing only twice a year., usually in the Spring and then again in the late Fall or early winter. You can pick and choose some of these, like oil pulling for example, to start adding to your weekly natural health routine. So, without further ado, let’s get to it!

I begin with my Green Tea Flush to start flushing out the toxins from the liver and working through my system and organs all the way down. At night, I begin taking a colon cleanse protocol. I like to use Mag07. This product combines magnesium with the power of oxygen to cleanse the colon. We know that magnesium works really well in this area. This product does not cause me any cramping or discomfort and works at night while you are sleeping. I usually have no issues emptying out in the morning. In this beginning stage of detoxing, I try to make sure that I drink plenty of electrolytes and water to keep hydrated.

My morning routine consists of using dry brushing, cupping, Guasha tools and facial rollers to help the flow of lymph to the nodes for drainage. Dry brushing is done before I shower. This is an easy habit to get started and you will quickly see how much your skin loves this practice!

I use a silicone cup for cupping right in the shower. I love the cupping practice to increase the flow of blood to some problem areas, like cellulite areas, spider veins, and any painful areas like sore muscles. I even use the cups on my upper chest area to increase the flow of blood to my heart, thymus, and lower neck area for my thyroid. I like the facial cupping in the shower as well. Once in a while, I will use the natural hot/cold therapy also. This one is usually harder for me to do. It almost causes me a headache at times, so just a reminder to be careful. Stop doing any protocol that does not make you feel well right off the bat.

I also love to do coconut oil pulling at least five days a week to help with the detoxing process. I usually do this in the morning while showering for 20 minutes.

I try to exercise and sweat at least 4 to 5 days a week. My workouts vary according to how I feel. It will be a strong HIIT routine one day, and maybe a lighter arm day the next. I will include stretching and yoga several of these days as well. Some days, I will try to do some rebounding as well. This is excellent for getting the lymph moving! When I am done with my exercise, I finish off my routine with a 45 minute far infrared sauna.

After about a week or so of doing this routine, I will begin adding in other detoxing protocols. While in the sauna, I will use a castor oil pack.

I will focus on my diet (even more so than usual) by adding in meals of only vegetables. I try to make sure I am getting in at least six cups of veggies each day. Greens especially are crucial for detoxification in the liver. Along with this, I focus on doing slightly longer fasting for autophagy. I usually intermittent fast for 15 to 20 hours per day. During autophagy fasting, I will do longer fasts for 24 to 36 hours.

I keep up with supplements, making sure I get in vitamin D3, magnesium, B vitamins, and a multivitamin. I also love using CBD oil. At this stage, I watch how I am feeling. This is about the second and third week of the detox. I will begin adding in a binder. I use activated charcoal for one to three days. I just mix one teaspoon of activated charcoal in to about 8 ounces of filtered water. I drink this down before I go to bed. I don’t take any vitamins at night when I take this binder. The next morning after I had used the bathroom, I will take a probiotic to feed the good bacteria in my gut.

I tend to hold quite a bit in my head, so my chiropractor recommended I use a simple little vibrating tool across and around my head to sort of shake things up in there to help my head drain. This actually helps a great deal. I usually feel my head filling up, so I will add colloidal silver spray that I spray across my nose and mouth. (I close my eyes when I do this.) I rub this into my skin around the bottom of my nose to get into my sinuses.

To help my sinuses and to help drain my head, I will diffuse essential oils in the room. My favorite to use is oregano essential oil with clove and cinnamon. Oregano EO is really very strong, so be careful with this one and the clove and cinnamon make it smell so cozy, aside from their benefits as well.

Sleep is very important during a detox. I find I am up quite a bit at night while I am detoxing. I make sure that I use my HHN Magnesium Oil Spray and Lavender Fine Mist Spray to help with this. I also love to use the natural treatment of bathing for two reasons. Bathing is a great way to relax the body and prepare for sleep. Bathing with our HHN Bath Salts is also a great way to detox! I soak in a 40-minute Epsom salt bath. It is said that for the first 20 minutes of the bath, the salts pull out toxins from our body. I make it as hot as I can to really get a good sweat going for more detoxing effects. Then, for the next 20 minutes, our body pulls in the minerals of the Epsom salts by reverse osmosis. Don’t overlook the benefits of this. These salts even work well with doing a foot soak if you’re not one for bathing!

I am a very big advocate for chiropractic care as well as coordinating efforts with your doctor. I love my chiropractor for adjusting my spine to optimize my nerve and blood flow and my movements. I respond very well to acupuncture, therapy, and massage. I love my doctor who watches over the data, that is my blood sugar and insulin levels, inflammation markers, vitamin levels, and so on. I love the natural team I have created to help me take care of my health naturally. I am very much a participant in my own health. I go by how I feel, and I trust my gut when I get a feeling about something, and honestly, my doctors know this about me and I believe they can appreciate this fact. Plus, when I am in great health because of the efforts I am putting forth with them, I help them to look good. Hehehe!

The bottom line here is that we shouldn’t underestimate the power of doing some natural detoxing. We live in a very toxic world these days and it bombards us on every level; the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we walk on, as well as the products we use and the foods we eat. Even EMF radiation from the electronics we use at home and what’s present outside (i.e., cell phone towers, BPA receipts, stores, etc.)

Here is a quote I just love. “If we listen to our body when it whispers, we won’t have to hear it scream.” This is so true. All the more reason to love yourself more.
