Castor Oil Packs

Castor Oil Packs

Have you heard of castor oil packs? These have some amazing benefits. Did you know that castor oil, placed on the body over the liver acts as an alternative to doing a coffee enema? I know. We still cringe when we hear the word “enema”. Detoxing with a coffee enema, however, is the best detoxing treatment there is. So, if you like them, keep doing them. If you don’t or find you don’t always have time for the enema, castor oil packs are the next best thing.

***Caution***Castor oil will stain your clothes! Please use junk clothes and materials and protect any bed linens or whatever furniture you lay down on so as not to get it stained. Please see the Flannel Fabric Scrap below. I use castor oil packs regularly for detoxing. Detoxing is a must when living with MTHFR! During my last month’s check-up, my blood work showed I am doing just fine in that area. (No buildup of toxins and no heavy metals in my system.) I have also used castor oil packs for sore joints and muscles and tendonitis. I believe it helped greatly when I was healing from frozen shoulder. My daughter Tara used coffee enemas daily, so she used castor oil packs to help relieve stomach cramping as well to further detox the liver from all the drugs and chemo. I think it is a pretty amazing natural treatment. I hope you give it a try if you haven’t already.

It is recommended to use a hot water bottle for the castor oil packs. Heating pads tend to transmit EMF’s.

Flannel Fabric Scrap

This is a scrap of material used for the castor oil pack. I use a piece of baby flannel that I had left over from a baby blanket I had sewn. This type of material works great for castor oil packs. It’s soft enough, absorbs the castor oil nicely, and protects your skin from the heat of the water bottle. Feel free to use any material you have. Castor oil will stain your fabrics so it’s up to you if you wash this when done or throw it away. I do wash mine, but I put it in a separate wash with rags and work clothes, so it doesn’t stain other items.

Cautions with using castor oil packs

  • Avoid using castor oil packs if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. The effects of castor oil on a baby aren’t known.

  • Don’t heat a castor oil pack in the microwave. The cloth and oil can smoke or catch on fire.

  • Don’t use castor oil packs on a recent injury or on open or irritated skin, such as scratches or cuts that are healing.
